Wowheel

Wowheel is a sensory tasting wheel created by the Mystery Coffee League community. It also serves as our main tasting wheel for our monthly competition.

How is it better than SCA wheel?

It is not necessarily better than the official Specialty Coffee Association Coffee Taster's Wheel but fits a different purpose. The SCA wheel has been designed primarily for use by industry professionals such as green buyers and roasters. However, in our opinion, it's not the best end-customer tasting wheel. It has quite limited options with many modern tasting notes missing. On the other hand, the SCA wheel contains a lot of tasting notes that could be considered defects and should be eliminated up the farmer-to-consumer chain. The SCA wheel was designed before the modern era of cofermented and boosted fermentations, which add a whole new spectrum of tasting notes to specialty coffee.
